Signed Paperwork -- Question about inventory retail price
The dealer showed me "my car" on his multi-page inventory list. The line contained a lot of codes (I didn't write them down), the VIN, an estimate of the port date (8/2-8/7), a comment line at the end with my name and that of the salesperson (so I know that the dealer edited the list).
The MSRP on the car I ordered is $35,590. I got a $3175 discount and agreed to pay $887 for a "full-face" clear bra and life-time warranty tint. I might be able to get the extras a little cheaper but having it done before I pick up the car was worth $100 to me.
What caught my eye, and is the basis of my question for anyone who works at a dealership, is that there was a column on the inventory list called "retail price" and the amount associated with my car was $40509 (remember my MSRP is $35590).
Who generates the "retail price" on that list and why would it be so much higher than my known MSRP?
Is there anyone out there who works at a dealership and can tell me who/what generates the number in the "Retail Price" column of a dealership's multi-page "Inventory list."
