Anyone had to recalibrate?

Today my nav got off by a good chunk of space... it took a while of driving to get back on track...?

 

I've had minor hiccups in the nav, but it corrected itself pretty quickly.

 

I've notice it a few times but I think it happens when I loose the sattelit signal and the car goes off the speed sensors and turns. Once it picks up the sattelites, it goes right back to being dead on.

 

In contrast to jc957, I've found my nav to be most inaccurate immediately after starting the car. Even without a recalibration, it improves greatly after driving around a bit.

I used to have that in my Acura.

Do you park in a garage? At times, that provides interference....

 

No...I haven't done the nav hack yet. Times are very few and far between that the nav is off. But like I said, the few times that I have noticed it is off, it usually displays the car as being 50-100 yards off to the side of the displayed road and I'm usually deep into tree coverage. Once it opens ups, the car icon goes right back onto the road. I haven't tried it yet in NYC so I don't know what the skyscrapers will be like. May answer the questions when we get up there. Thats the only thing I can think of unless you guys have other ideas

 

happened to me once before when it was still tweaking the compass.
it went away. sometimes it gets out of wack but it goes back to normal.

 

Never had interference with the nav signal in SoCal. Only one blip where it once read that I was off a quarter of a mile away, but it fixed itself in less than a minute of driving.

 

Did all of you have metallic tints?

 

At work, the car is in a wide open parking lot, far from trees and tall buildings. I've seen the same inaccuracies starting off from this location.

Also, to address kensteele's remark, I haven't performed the nav hack yet.

 

i have no tint, no mods. but once, while being in seattle, wa it was telling me i was somewhere in oregon. did this for a good 5 mins or so. once or twice, it showed me off of a road a bit that i was actually driving on.

 

I've got non metallic tint... but driving in lots of hills and trees, does navigation actually measure elevation? Sometimes I'm on a lower road than the nav suggests. Also, is there an manual recalibration tool?

 

No navigation will ever be perfect. Just enjoy it while you got it.

For those of you that don't have metallic tints, this reinforces my assumption that metallic tints don't cause nav errors.

 

i'm just curious if you start up in the parking garage with no gps signal and then you drive away outside, how long it takes to catch up. sometimes for me, it takes awhile.
