The 4th gen Toyota 4Runner also has those. The guys at the T4R forum figured out how to use them:

I was gonna do this on my wife's 4Runner but decided that it was too much work too little benefit.

The lights wouldn't be in the rear bumper. They would be in the taillights themselves. The rear bumper is just reflectors (although bulbs in there would be neat)

You would have to get a bulb socket and bulb and cut out a hole with a dremel. Not easy to do, since its not just a round hole. Has to have notches for the ears on the bulb socket to go into you can twist and lock it in place. I suppose, you could go to Kragens or Pep Boys and get a universal one that just pops into a round hole. But to me that would be kind of GHETTO. You would have to tap the wires into an existing brake light bulb, or wire it in with a switch to turn it on like a fog light. The US spec car that we have are not pre-wired for this. I don't have the time to try this right now. Let us know if someone can try it. Good luck.

Wouldn't this mod be 10x easier if you just purchased non-US inner taillights and then just made your own wiring harness (ie-installing front fog lights on cars that aren't equipped with them)

I hate driving behind Audis with the rear fogs on.

If you don't want them to be too bright you can use LEDs. As I have rear fogs but hardly need them, I swapped the bulbs for these: http://frickinbrite.com/catalog/prod...roducts_id=365 (original socket=7443)
So my "additional taillights" turn on with the fog-light switch. If you don't wanna do all the wiring to add a switch, you can just connect them parallel to the existing taillights. As LEDs don't pull much current there should be no harm to the circuits and wiring.
I have only a daytime pic but it can give you an idea how it looks.

Are you sure that the "lights" seen in the picture aren't just the reflectors reflecting the flash from the camera? I don't think i've seen them on any of the 2IS's around here. I kinda like the idea though...

he's in Luxembourg so he had them from the factory.

anyway i think they look cool even if there isn't fog just like the front fogs.
from what i've seen in the manual there's is a switch for it with the front fogs,so you give it one more flick and the're on.

I've never seen the Lexus rear fogs, but from what I've seen on Audi, Benz and Volvo, they aren't so "cool" if you are driving behind them at night on a dark road, when there's no fog.

sure if you're behing an Audi the're not cool, but imagine if you have them on on the highway at night .. you would easily attract eye's to you.

but i agree they are annoying if you're behind an Audi in a traffic light.

There had been a similar discussion some time ago: https://www.clublexus.com/forums/sho...6&postcount=32
There are different regulations around Europe on how to use rear fogs. The one we have here in Lux. has been copied from Germany, in Belgium and France you are already allowed to switch them on in heavy rain. So most people use them as they want, and that's really annoying!

Wow, thats weird... I almost want to say that they would be better as clear (white) lights that only came on when you were in reverse... Like back up fog lights. But seeing as how I covered mine up that wouldnt be of much use to me.

i think it's a good option to have... but use them when you're suppose to.
