Pound for Pound and Dollar for Dollar, which Lex is better in overall looks and drive?
Ask the questions again when the GS350 comes out.
Otherwise, the only thing that the GS430 can offer that the IS350 can't is cabin space and prestige.

The GS feels like an ES on steroids. IS looks and feels like a sport sedan. Also, in 2006, the GS does not offer MP3 playback, nor aux input and uses the gen 4 navigation- all deal breakers in my mind.

IS 350 = As sporty as Toyota Gets, Better looks, gas mileage, acceleration, handling, braking, etc.
GS 430 = 2nd best luxury cruiser Toyota Makes, More comfort, Softer ride, morespace, etc.
It depends what you want, more sport or more luxury

IMO, by far the fastest volume production Toyota second only (barely) to Supra TT mk 4? - yes. Sportiest? - no way on earth.
Not until, it gets a true 6 speed manual (or even SMG), better steering feedback and control from the road, VDIM off button and hence a faster slalom speed and lateral acceleration. The IS250 falls more in this category.

GS430 has too much "Toyota". Same as ES and LS. IS is the only car I consider it has true Lexus look, and it's the way it should be.

What may I ask is the "Lexus Look?" After the L-Finesse redesigns, the GS, ES, IS and LS all share similar body lines and resemble each other.Originally Posted by ARM0R

For Lexus look, it should have sharp edges, strong shoulder. Since you own GS430, I'd rather stop.

IMHO, the new GS does not look any more "Toyota" than the IS250/350.

Don't worry, I won't take offense. I like hearing other people's opinions. I myself think certain aspects of the GS design can be improved.Originally Posted by ARM0R

Sorry, but I still don't get this comment. So the IS is the only model in the Lexus lineup with the "Lexus look"? Originally Posted by ARM0R

Sounds more like you like the IS b/c it doesn't have the Lexus look.Quote:
Logic would seem to dictate that if the IS is the ONLY car with the "Lexus look" then it does not have a lexus look at all. Your statement doesn't make much sense to me either, and I own an IS, not a GS.Originally Posted by ARM0R

I would say the "Lexus" look is defined by the LS. When you ask people what car embodies "Lexus" most people think about the LS, specifically the 1G400.

All in all, it's my opinion. Whether other people take it or not.
Toyota defines car with Toyota badge as economy car, and Lexus as Luxury/Prestige car.
Looking at GS, LS, ES, you'll can tell it looks like Toyota line or has Toyota gene. For IS, only the side looks like Toyota. The rest looks so agressive and UNIQUE. That's what we call good design.
Like old BMW, you can tell it's a BMW when it's approaching. Not like the new one like 5 or 3 series which looks more like Korean car.
For Lexus, you don't feel comfortable when yoru friends say that "Ah, it looks like a Toyota". What I want people say is "It's a so well-designed car, and looks very sporty/classy" on and on.
Whatever, beauty is in the eye of beholder. I'm just an outsider.

Warranty is about to expires (another 450 miles), so I'm considering IS as my next car. GS ride/handling cannot hold a candle for BMW's handling. However, I like IS because the front and rear looks so agressive, and car is small with excellent power 306hp for 3500lb car. Also, good ML system, nav, and Toyota simple, but quality things, are the main factor. Prestige is my lowest priority.
Anyhew, fun to join here
to learn about this car first because buying it. Plan for 2007 model or late 2006.
Best Regards.

FWIW... The grill on the IS looks strikingly similar to the Solara. And the car as a whole IMO looks like a baby GS.
