Default Shattered hope....

LoL damn it. First I was told that hopefully my IS will come with this week shipment of cars now i received a call and was informed that it's not coming until the 25th of June. That's a 2 months wait instead of the 6 week wait. Now I have to start searching again to see if a dealer has it available in stock. Grrr there goes my plans. Sorry about this meaningless post. Just had to vent

Do you need the car that soon?

If the car that you want is near, I'd wait. Save a little extra for the down payment (or your mods ) and build up your excitement for it.

Good luck!

It'll be nice to have it since i'm carless =p. I was disappointed when the dealer told me that it'll hopefully arrive this week with their new shipments of IS. I got my hopes up when I heard that. But when I spoke with him today he's telling that my IS 350 is the only one being built in this area with the specifications that I wanted. I just wanted black on black with lux so i dunno. Should i be like give me a better deal than we have already or should i just suck it up and wait.

Sounds like they (and you) are just hoping for the right car, rather than ordering it. If that's the case, then don't be surprised if you get the exact same story in another 2 weeks.

haha, since you missed the 20th of the month cutoff, you should expect 9-10 more weeks of wait time for your order. 3-4 months (depending if you made the cutoff) is the time frame for a special order, no more, no less. 99% of all orders fall within this range.

Hey , That sucks man, but i know how you feel to get your hope up then get very dissappointed. I went to the dealership last week because they told me that my car had finally arrive. I have been waiting for 3 months so I came there very excited. When I got there, I realized that they had messed up my order, I ordered the IS 250 stick with lux package and Nav. They ordered me an automatic with more options than i wanted, which made the cost more. All that they said as sorry. I was sooooo mad. I just wanted to leave and go to another dealership or get a bmw or something. But i really wanted the lexus and i felt that if I went somewhere else they would do just the same thing. I want an IS manual with NAV, this type of car is very rare at the same time very hard to sell. I felt the the dealer purposly got me an auto just because they were afraid that I would change my mine then they will be stuck with a car that they cant sell. I decided to stay with this dealer because I felt that I would not bite with thier first offer of the auto and that They know now that I am a serious buyer of the manual. Has this ever happened to something trying to buy and IS stick?

Basically I have to wait another 3 months, This sucks!!

It sounds like the dealer is trying the bait and switch technique. Its pretty sad when the dealers don't really take your order seriously. Its not like they don't make enough money with the sale already.

You ordered 4/25 and expecting delivery this week??? I ordered 3/15 from a PA dealer and my car is just coming into port in Florida next week with another week till it'll be at the dealership. A friend of the family hooked up the deal so I know that there is no BS going on. He said it would be here mid-to-late June which so far has been accurate but I haven't gotten the VIN yet (next week supposidly).
I've been keeping an eye on people on the East Coast saying how long their delivery time was and it's about right at 10-12 weeks with it being more about 12 weeks on special order (4 other posters I've referenced).
Your combo is not too odd so you may be getting an allocation from another dealership but that only takes maybe a week between the time they find one at another dealership and do the trade/swap of inventory.
Another poster here got a loaner Lexus for a few weeks when his promised car didn't come in. I suggest you go that route or start calling around to see what's in stock (Call Maryland dealerships, very hard to RWD cars in the NorthEast Region--i got RWD 250 stick and only 9 manuals have been delivered so far to the NorthEast region).

Good luck, I wouldn't hold your breath though. Sounds like a BS Salesman

It will be 4 months next week and my manual tranny still isn't in. BTW, my dealer has a Breakwater Blue, manual tranny with luxury & nav in stock. 39k. But I'm in TN.
