Default Navi Voice / Does mine have a problem?

I had to have my CD changer replaced in my Navigation IS 250AWD. I think they replaced the whole unit. The CD Changer would not unload or play the CDs that were now stuck. Sales guy claimed it could be due to the fact that 1 of my CDs had been burned (How else do you get MP3s on a cd??)

I remember, or I'm imagining, that my navigation used to lower the music (radio, or CD) when it gave directions. Now it seems it speaks mingled with the audio. I have to jack up the navi volume to high so I can hear it over the music.

Is it me?

When you are in voice command mode, the music will be paused and Betty will ask for command.

During Navigation, music will be on, mixed with Betty's direction.

I think that is what should be.

You can adjust the Nav voice to one of 6 levels (for sake of arguement, say these levels correspond to 6,9,12,15,18,21). Say you set it to the highest (21). As long as your stereo is set to less than 21 you can hear the nav voice ok. Unfortunately, the nav voice adjustment is an absolute value, and not a relative value (i.e. the nav voice volume isn't ADDED to the current stereo volume). Which really sucks. I put this as a complaint on the '02 IS and my '06. I wish they would have done something about it by now.
