Default 16 inch wheels

My sister got an is250 recently and the car is pretty good imo but just one small problem. She didn't get the package that atleast included 17 inch wheels.

She has no problem with it really but i do. Sometimes we swap cars and i got to drive the is250 sometimes. She's got the is250 and i got the bmw 330i.

I do like driving the lexus but wheels seem too skinny for a guy to be driving it. do you guys agree? would you guys see it as funny for a guy to be driving a nice car but with small tires?

I like the 17-inch wheels better than the 18-inch wheels for some reason.

i'm not a huge car fanatic so this question maybe stupid. what is the purpose of people always wanting bigger wheels? is it appearance or performance?

Seriously you are being paranoid. Only snobs would laugh at someone because they have small wheels. I mean, unless they were like 8 inches. While in most people's eyes 17s are better than 16s, most people won't even notice.

Default 17 inchers

My personal preference would have been to have the option on the IS AWD 250 of ordering it with the 18 inch tires and OEM rim that comes standard on the 350. I think the 350's 18 inch package is far better looking than the standard on the 250.

Because that wasn't available, and because of the large gap between wheelwell and tire on a 16-17 inch tire, I chose to improve the look by moving up to a 19 inch package.

It's all a personal decision, but I've seen my IS with both the 17 inch standard tire/wheel OEM package and my new setup, and there's a huge difference in the "wow" factor of the looks of the car.

both, steering and cornering is better with larger wheels therefore thinner tires, looks better too

And the rate of tire-wear is faster on the larger wheels!

Me too. They look more uniform than the 18's. And the ride is a little softer!

yes theres always a trade off, larger tires are usually made of a softer compound for more traction, so it doesnt wear faster just because its larger, its the rubber compound they are using
