Question Navigation is always on while driving etc...

Is there any risk of image burn?.......I don't want to turn it off (the screen) under any circumstances.

Everyone thinks that LCDs are immune to burn in, even if youll ask salesman at the store he will tell you that they are immune but they are not. I went to a local store and they had a demo running for about 3 weeks on an lcd and now whenever youll play something else on this screen it shows a shadow of a demo movie. I think the only technology that is immune to burn in is the DLP. LCD wont burn in as fast but it will still burn in.

regards, Bart

Wrong. Just feel the LCD monitor connected to your home computer, it gets warm (91F). Laws of energy, light converted into heat.

If you have it on NAV mode the screen image is always moving... how will that burn an image onto the screen?

Some parts of the screen image are static no? Buttons, symbols, etc. I play videos all the time so my Nav is rarely displaying on the screen.

But the buttons are an overlay of the road in the back... Oh I guess I see what you mean... the top will still always display the button outline, so that can burn in.

I'm waiting for someone to get the DVD Movie mod for non M-L cars... THEN i can play Movies too!

Are you sure it wasn't a plasma?

LCD screens can suffer a form of burn-in called "image persistance" but
1. I'd expect it would take more than three weeks to do damage.
2. In many cases, image persistance is cured simply by switching the LCD panel off for a period of time. Since I only drive an hour or so a day, the LCD panel in the car is off more than it is on.

LCD = only dead pixel
Plasma = only burned image.

I have a 34" LCD HDTV. had sone a lot of research before getting it last year.

That's what I thought. My Nokia 8801's LCD burns in the static time banner when the phone is idle, but that goes away within 15 seconds if I change the screen. It's a 262k screen on that phone if it makes any difference.
