$150... that's about two tanks of gas in a few months.

Cheers,

You are responsible for keeping receipts to show reasonable evidence that you've completed required maintenance work as scheduled (i.e. receipts for oil filters, oil, air filters, etc).
The Magnussen-Moss Act specifically refers to aftermarket parts and their fitment. I'm not sure how that relates to home maintenance or lack thereof. You may be able to produce receipts for oil and filters etc but that is no guarantee they were fitted or done correctly. In addition if you fail to check or carry out some part of routine maintenance because you were unaware of it (not being a Lexus tech and all that) and there is a subsequent failure, Lexus would be within their rights, in my opinion, to void your warranty.

Buy 6qts of Mobil 1 at WalMart. $35. Change oil yourself.
Buy a torque wrench at Home Deport ($50?) Torque shaft flange bolts yourself.

You saved $120 or more*.
You learned something about how your car was put together.
You have the satisfaction of having done it yourself.

* dealer charges $150 or more, plus $55 for synthetic oil.

Do you really think the flange bolts need to be torqued at every oil change? Or is that just Lexus's way of getting people to bring the car to the dealer rather than a quick lube, gas station mechanic or DIY?

Ya I have no idea what the flange bolts are... if I heard it I would have thought you made them up. Just like the episode of friends where the plane doesnt have a "Flangie."

I didn think so but why does lexus owners website still list that option under the maintence schedule? A old pdf file?

What about the 30 day cehck up. I think I remember the Sales guy saying they did away with that too.

You would think the lexus website to be the most updated...

These cars need nothing, except an oil / air filter change, for at least 50-70k..
Trust me, I known techs that worked at toyota dealerships, when they charge you
a couple of hundred for these "10k or 15k inspections, they usually don't even open
your hood... If they offered it to me , (for free) I still wouldn't even waste my time
waking up in the morning to drop my car off there and risk them scratching it

So true.

All the maintenance our cars need (includes most new cars) is oil change, diff change if RWD, and all filters, thats it!

I would change my auto tranny fluid also, I dont believe in life time fluid.

If you bought yours from Superior South as I did, the prepaid maintanence plan was probably offered by that gorgeous blond F&I girl...around $1200, and I negotiated it down to about $950, but then decided not to prepay. I want the flexibility of taking to either Molle for routine work, or the Lexus techs who have their own shop down off of Shawnee Mission Pkwy & I-35, and do warranty work for 35-40% off. (Ben Bennett-Exact Performance).

Thanks for the tip on the locations, I probably paid $1000 and yes my F&I girl was gorgeous but I think she was brunette lol.

Having 10k on a car is nothing. Only thing that really needs to be changed is the oil.
We purchased a free tires for life contract but one of the stipulations is that we have every service performed at the dealer...
