I'm almost certain there's no way to set that behavior described above either via LPS or by the user.

If the poster would have simply said "I understand you can unlock all doors with a simple grasp of the handle, but I'd rather have that option in a two step process...." then no one would be having this argument. Instead, most of the reads who come back to this post will certainily believe that you can't unlock all doors by grasping the handle. Because that is what he said. Which simply isn't true. But....
He said "The only big thing that bugs me now is how I can't press the door handle button to unlock all doors." No one is going to distinguish between the external outer button from the internal sensor, both on the handle. You statement may as well have said "The only big thing that bugs me now is how I can't grasp the door handle to unlock all doors.". Why? Because everyone knows that pressing the button can ONLY be used to LOCK the doors, there isn't even an function to UNLOCK using the "button." You would have been better off saying too bad I can first grasp the door handle to unlock the driver's door and then if I let go and grasp again, the next time all doors will unlock. Very confusing.
None of us know anything about a Mercedes so that really doesn't explain it.
Haha its ok... go easy on him after all he did help me get my 10 second unlock.
Its easy after the fact to think of what to write but many times at the moment it might sound perfectly clear in his head but isnt to others.
Actually I know some stuff about Mercs... my parents have one. I know even more about BMWs since I have one and always follow up on them ever since the E34s. and know more than you can imagien on the E39 M5 and just as much on the E60s.

I'm still confused on setting the door lock/unlock feature. Could someone be kind enough to give me the exact steps on setting the door to
- lock when shifting away from P
- unlock when shifting into P
- lock when car reaches 13MPH
I know I should have read the manual (RTFM) first, but I couldn't find it anywhere in my Hong Kong edition manual. It didn't mention anything about setting the door lock/unlock feature...
If not, it would be nice if someone could send me the manual pages on this topic.
Thanks,
Linus

Out of 100 threads that ask the same question. 80 of them say RTFM or "use the search, its been covered before" How will that help? First of all the searcher probably found the " 'Use the search' anwser thread BY using the search engine… If people don’t want to answer then skip the tread… don’t clutter the tread with useless answers.
The best way to do it is tell the poster to RTFM and also post an answer… otherwise skip it and go onto the next tread. Or tell the poster to use the search and SHOW them by linking it to a seached thread with the highlighted search word that you used to locate the tread that contains the answer. Its annoying enough to search and find so many threads on the same subject that’s been archived overtime but none of them contain the answer.
Its not a grief for everyone there are new members everyday who have not seen or even old member who have not seen new tricks. Just because couple people have seen it multiple times doesn’t mean everyone has seen it at least once.

PS. Meybe it's just me, but I get VERY tired of people asking the same questions, or complaining about the same things, over, and over, and over. Search would avoid a lot of this grief for everyone.

It takes WAY too much energy to complain that much.
