Default red tach ring during auto mode

I figured the car would always keep itself from hitting the red warning ring while in full auto but I was wrong. Today I had the ECT PWR on and the transmission was in full auto mode...I floored it from a stop and I believe it was during the 2-3 shift the RPMs went high enough that the red ring lit up. Not exactly thrilled about that...anyone else see this before?

Depending on how you set the "redline" light. You can control how many RPM it takes to turn on the red light. Set it lower, and it will light up before upshifting. Set it higher, and the ring may not light up.

I already upped the orange ring...this was the red "dangerous engine speed" ring.

Yup, Ive seen it in auto. Last night I was using sport shift and switched to 3rd on the freeway, I punched it and I was surprised that it went past the redline, it almost hit 7. I might be seeing things though, it was 4 in the morning.

How do you control the red ring? It's hardwired.

I've seen the red ring a few times while floored in auto mode, it makes me feel like I got a good shift.

The red ring on the tach can be set using those 3 buttons on the left side of the dash. the same ones you use to set your orange speed ring.
or maybe it was the orange one I set

The orange ring you can set your desired RPM point. But that red ring you see, is already pre-set there near the redline.

I saw it a couple of times. Pretty nice. It doesn't mean you'll blow your engine by any means anyway. There is still a rev limit.

Just consider it the "danger zone" to shift.

I'm almost certain you are mistaken. I've been through those settings dozens of times, and I've read the appropriate section of the owners manual, and I've never seen a way to set the red ring, only the orange one.

I think I said it once, but the winds shifted on me while I was coming in for a landing while skydiving last weekend. I slammed into the ground at probably 30-35mph. Broke every bone in my left ankle and had surgery on Monday. Today was the first time I sat in/drove my car in a week.
