We all know that there's a speed limiter in either IS250 or IS350. However, there's a product called VAC from HKS Japan can break this limit. In Japan, speedmeter ends at 180km/h. With VAC installed, up to 180km/h is possible. Now they only have VAC for IS350, and VAC for IS250 is still in development. Maybe in the near future, we will see the US verion VAC for IS250 and IS350

There is no reason to spend money on these types of things, unless you take the car on the track. The VAC costs about $750. Spend your money on other mods, or donate the cash to charity (because that will at least do something beneficial).

yeah I agree.... on public roads, it's just too dangerous. and If it cost $750 to have something that i'll use maybe once or twice in my life, not worth it. plus, not worth it putting my life in danger (and other people's lives). I personally believe that no matter how good of a driver we think we are, we're not that good. If you're a professional race driver, then that's another story. But then, if you're a professional, you probably wouldn't do something stupid like driving 140+ on public roads. just my 2 cents

 

Judging by those radar speed awareness trailers that the police love to park all around town, the speedometer on the IS350 reads a few MPH high, even at 35-40. I wouldn't be surprised if it read 5-10 MPH high at those 140+ speeds.

 

Ive noticed this too. Ive always thought the speedometer read a little bit high. At the Lincoln Tunnel its saying I'm going 15 and im damn close to 20 according to the IS.

Not to sound like a baby, but I would be almost scared to drive much above 115-120. I dont feel like I could control the car that well at those speeds and if I did crash, for certain Id be dead.

 

so US IS350/250 can go upto 144mph(231km/h)? I drove last night on Japanese Highway, easily could reach close to 180km/h(111mph). I was talking with my friend and didnt notice I was driving that fast until I looked at the speed meter.

with my sc400, I almost lost control when I was driving 116mph on Pulaski skyway rt9 in NJ before.
so please be careful when you driving that fast.

 

As silly as it may sound, some people just don't like restrictions...I know a few guys who argue about rev-limiters just the same. I also know quite a few individuals who would critique the necessity of a 306hp car just as well, if you can't go over 55-60 in most areas of the country. To each his own is what I say.

Interesting. I'm aware of speedometers reading a few mph off as speed increases, especially into the 100+ range, but not at speeds as low as 40mph. Can the GPS/NAV on the IS also give you a readout of your MPH?

 

find a way to permanently disable VDIM with a chip first not the top speed governor, the VDIM disable would be far more useful to the people that can control their cars

 

Have to disagree here. VDIM can do things that not even the most experienced driver in the world can do, like braking a single wheel. For normal driving, it would best be left on.

I'd like to see a software upgrade to VDIM to make it less intrusive, e.g., a sport setting that would allow a bit more fun before the system intervened.

 

An on/off function would suffice.

 

I guess the limiter is 140mph (225km/h) because many of my friends already tested that before. However, I forget to ask them what is the rpm in 6th gear when they reached 225km/h. If it is not in red line, then it means that up to 225km/h (with VAC) is still possible but taking more time.

 

I can tell you it's perfectly stable at 130!!!
