Default My First Service

Went in for my first 5k service yesterday....and reported a few minor things with my 350. First they turned off my DRL and second I reported to the Lexus asm that when ever I shift from D to R or R to D gear and press the brakes, their would be a clicking sound. And his reply to me was that the break pads on all Lexus shifts when you switch gears. Does anyone knows if that is true or not.....

That does sound reasonable. And it's BRAKE pad.

IS350ISFUN-

Where in CA are you located? My dealer in SoCal would not turn off my DRLs.

Thanks

Same here, my dealer says they won't disable safety features of the car due to liability.

It short-hand for daytime running lights. An important safety feature. Why on earth would anyone want to disable their DRLs?

There's a very very very slight change in fuel usage when DRLs are disabled (DRLs are powered from the vehicle electrical system, which ultimately is powered by the gas engine / alternator)

Also, some people just hate the look of having their lights on all of the time.

Same deal...My dealer told me that "our policy does not allow us to disable a safety feature"

It's a standard safety feature in many countries such as Canada, I believe. In the past 5-7 years, it has become almost standard on a lot of vehicles sold in the US as well. With the new generation IS being a true "world" car sold in many countries, it probably just made sense to keep it standard across the board.

Personally, I think it's a great safety feature and would not bother disabling it.

You don't really believe you just said, Do you?
DRL Bulb at most is 5watts you might as well just turn your radio off because that takes up more power.
