Default Lost Key...

Lost my keys at the movie theatres today
It was a late night showing so they closed right after I left with my cousin..god knows why I had my keys with me if I wasn't driving...
Anyways I didn't realized until I got home that I needed my key to get in the door. I threw a few stones at my sisters window but no luck..she sleeps very soundly. I ended up using my last resort..calling my parents at 1:40 in the morning and explaining to them how I lost my 400 dollar lexus key fob. ($400 is what our salesman told me I'd have to pay to replace a lost key fob)

Anybody else lose their smart key? Was your dealer generous enough to replace it free of charge...or at a huuuge discount?

You mean to say you lost both of them? Why not try to go back there first thing tomorrow? If you indeed dropped it there, I'm sure chances are you can find it.

Yup going to be around 400. They sell the the fob in 2 pieces. One the fob itsself then the valet key also. Then youll have to get it programmed. Not sure how easy that is.

Well when I realized it was lost...I really had no hopes for finding it at a theatre. I went back anyways to the theatre early this morning...no luck. Manager said maintenance didn't find anything in my theatre.

so if you've lost your first remote and you plan to use your second remote going forward, can you still reprogram or lock out the first remote? there's little chance the lost remote will be used to either break-in your car or steal your car, what does one do if they don't want to pay the $400 but stay protected?

btw, i stick a tiny piece of paper with my phone number on the inside of the remote; if you by chance remove the emergency key, stuck to it would be my 10-digits.

When you lose a key you have to have a new key and computer unless they changed things in the newest models.

The computer is roughly $1500 and the key is $379.

Lexus will give you your first computer replacement free, next time it will cost you. If you still have a transponder from a second key, you can get away with just having a second key made, but you cannot get a transponder for it.

This is the way it was setup in the IS300.

The key FOB might be different than the transponder key in the IS300..............never lose your transponder key with an IS300.

I don't know how smart of an idea that is because then anyone can do a reverse look-up on your phone number, find out where you live, and steal your car.

It's my cellphone number, the address to which is my work address (about 10,000 cars plus security patrols and cameras at my work place). I don't think cellphone numbers are listed in a reverse directory anyway, are they?

KEY FOUND!!
I'm so happy haha..earlier today when I went to the theatre..I gave them my information. The manager called my cell and said he found an AUDI key..I said no my key chain has an acura key/lexus key/and la fitness memership card.

The manager said.."yep i've got it..just making sure"

I guess it's a good thing he made sure he was giving the right keys to the right guy.

-But thanks everybody for the help on what do do in a lost key situation

That's awesome!! Congrats on finding your key...that 400 would have burned a hole in your wallet.

The two parts, the valet key and the fob would be less than 300.00, 107.00 and 176.00.
And really, the fob would be the only part you would need. The valet key portion is overpriced like you can't believe. 107.00. If you just need a hard key to enter the car without the fob, I would just order the blank IS300 key for 37.00 and have it cut to the IS350 vin code and keep that in your wallet. Now does anyone know if the Master key programming sequence for a replacement IS350 fob is the same as the IS300 fob?
