Hi,

The button on the right is the Automatic Vents, not Automatic climate. It is designed to circulate air throughout the car for just a set period.

I am assuming you did not do business here at Lexus of Northborough, we usually go over everything with our customers, and are an Elite Lexus dealership. Let me know if you have any questions on anything else- Jamie

That is for the smog sensor. You can set the sensitivity for it if you hold down the button for about 5 seconds. If you choose that setting(the middle LED), it will sense the air going into the cabin, and if there is smog (behind a car accellerating) you will see it switch to RECIRC. Then after a few mins, it will go back to FRESH. I was wondering the same thing and broke out the manual.

I think he's asking why when you turn the car off it switches off of auto mode.
So if that is the question, that's just the way it is. That was brought up a while ago and no one was able to figure out a way to keep it on.....

Cool

You can have that customized to your liking by having the personalized settings done. See attached. http://www.lexus.com/assets/models/...lectionForm.pdf. It is the last one under Air Conditioning #15. I had that done so now my air conditioning is always in recirculate mode. I can manually change it but it doesn't automatically change anymore. That is how I like it.

no I bought a car from your dealership once and would never do it again. I dont like underhanded people and your general manager and one of your 'sales associates' both fit that bill. furthermore I have seen evidence that your dealership is still not worthy of club lexus members business on another lexus owners site based on complaints posted there.

ok heres the deal. when I bought my LS from these weasels in aug 04 I had taken pictures and noted to the sales person that what I thought were styling details and what turned out to be the park sensors on the left front of the car were scraped and damaged.the salesperson, elizabeth stevens, shrugged it off as being cosmetic. when I took my test drive and later when I took delivery the park sensor switch was off. of course I didnt know this because I was unfamiliar with the car. a couple of weeks later I figured out after reading the manual that the park sensors were off so of course I turned them on. now I get in the display a warning like its about to hit something even though I am not near anything. I inspected the sensor location and sure enough the scraped and damaged thing was the sensor itself. so I call the dealership and tell them my problem and they said I should have told them when I got the car. I relayed the same details here to them and they basically said too bad youre lying. this is after I told them I had pictures of the damage taken on their lot. the manager , eric something or other, got on a conference call setup by their service manager and was very beligerent. they wanted 700 dollars to replace 3 sensors period. I told him I was going to get lexus corporate involved and he said I dont care go right ahead. needless to say lexus corporate did nothing and I eventually got the ONE sensor replace using lexus-parts.com for 225 bucks and paid my local dealer 75 to install it.

another classless move was elizabeth's making sure I knew that the owner of the dealership is [allegedly] african america like me as if that matters at all. finally when I asked to see a print out of all the service done to the car they failed to include the fact that a sensor that regulates the air suspension had been replaced in may of 04. of course that same sensor failed in may of 05 and left my car looking like a hot rod from the 60s jacked up in the rear. hoffman lexus replaced the part as a good will repair which I repaid them with by having my wife lease her rx from them and having them do an interior detail on my LS for 99 bucks.

you can read about their incompetence when it comes to other people who have tried to get IS test drives here:

as I referred to in other threads I leased my IS from balise lexus which ironically has a shaky reputation because of the numerous low end dealerships they own in my area. they treated me with kid gloves and gave me the red carpet treatment EVERY time I dealt with them since 2003 long before I became a lexus customer. I strongly recommend considering them for your transactions especially the internet department and in particular Ed Ladika.

if after reading this you cannot understand my 'hostility' towards lexus of northborough [not the referring poster since I have no idea who it is] well then I dont know what to tell you.

For the smog sensor to work though, don't you have to leave the AC on? When I turn the AC off, the smog sensor doesn't appear to be illuminated? I hate leaving AC on, doesn't that hurt gas mileage? Actually I once heard that the AC compressor runs anyway, whether AC is on or off... thoughts?
