We started the driving at about 1:30 PM on both days with the same car (Except mine had a spoiler). Even though i have heard spoilers do add to fuel consumption, it is something like .5MPG or even less if your car has a spoiler so it was not enough to justify the drastic drop. We both drove one day with and one day without A/C. I actually saw the same test being done on mythbusters which is what inspired us to do is because i was always told that it is better to drive with the A/C on rather that your windows down. The reason i want to know is because in Canada, we really only have about 4 months of summer weather and they are not like in nevada or any place like that. The hottest it ever gets here is probably abou 110 and even though that is pretty hot, it may only happen for about 10 days out of the year. Trust me, when you only have 4 months of good weather, you do not want to drive around with your windows up.

Do you work for the auto industry or something Seriously, nice effort. Good to know I'm not wasting gas with the windows down. Now, what about the theory that your ac compressor is running variously throughout the day anyway, and so it's good for your A/C to just leave it on??

I haven't read my manual but I know for a fact that it stays on longer than 30 seconds. I know I drove about 4 miles with it still being on the other day. I know I drive fast, but the last time I checked, the car didn't have wings.
