Default Cancelled My Order!!!!!

I placed a "special order" the first week of November for a IS350 Lux, ML, Nav and gave the dealership my deposit. I had no other contact from the dealership after this visit so I stopped in at the end of January to check on production and see what the status of the order was and found out that an order had never been placed and that I was merely placed on a preference list. Problem with that is that no vehicles with lux, spt, or prem pkgs were allocated to the southeast region at all at that point and they didn't expect to see any until late March-April and couldn't guarantee they would get anything like I wanted. After some complaining, the general manager agreed to finally place an order for me 3 mos after the first visit to the dealership. To make a very long story short, I continued to recieve the run around from the dealership and last week it was finally admitted to me that there was a "computer glitch" at the time my order was placed and that Lexus did not accept any special orders from that dealership. Needless to say, noone felt the need to call or make me aware of this glitch and just assumed I would continue the neverending quest for an IS. I cancelled my order and have now begun the battle to get back my deposit. They told me that they would refund it but convienently forget to cut a check each time I stop in. There are several lexus dealerships located in Tennessee...all several hours away...so I have decided it is not worth the aggravation anymore to locate one and the experience has made me lose interest in the car. Just wanted to thank all the guys on here for all the information that I have gotten from all of you. This is a great site!!

Wow, that is a shame. Call Lexus and tell them about how this dealership treated you. Too bad this experience has caused you to lose interest in such a great car. Just curious, what do you think you will get now that the IS is out?

Default that's sad to hear....

You placed an order in November and you didn't check back to see if anything actually happened until January?

GO to another dealership!!! I had a similiar situation with my first generation 01 IS here in Austin, TX where I couldn't get a salesperson to even help me! I ended going to SanAntonio for my IS and had such a wonderful experience with them, that I also bought my 06 GS from them also! The new IS is very nice, and I'm hoping that they will come out with a coupe version of the car, don't let a bad dealership experience deter you!

Decided to wait and see what Infiniti has in store for the new G coupe. I know alot of people on here don't like Infiniti's, but I had an 04 coupe and loved it....never had any of the issues people typically complain about. My only complaint was the interior. We'll see what happens...maybe once I cool down for a while may even consider the IS coupe...although I will purchase it from another dealer. They should be out about the same time as the new G.

WRITE a letter to Lexus corporate and the dealership with your experience. Good luck whatever you do. What dealer in TN was it? Tell people to stay away from there.

Since you already waited this long, might as well wait a few more months until we have an idea
what infinti will come out with for the g35, I'd love to see a restyled g35 with
320+ hp As far as the is350, if you decide by then to get an IS350 after all,
it should be easier to find one with the options you want by then, also you should be able to get a better discount as well..

Was Lexus of Nashville in Brentwood. Another note...3 coworkers of mine placed "orders" in the months following mine and since my experience they have all been contacting the dealer to find the same scenario. I don't know what the problem is with this place, but something needs to change!

That sucks. I saw my first DSM at L of Nashville. It was sitting out on display in the sun. Anyway, go somewhere else and get it. It's totally worth a couple of hour drive or short flight to get the car you really want. If you settle for less you'll regret it.

That is quite unfortunate. As much as you may have lost interest in the car, you should not compromise and get a "second choice" because of the situation that has happened.

My suggestion: continue your search for your IS. What items did you ask in your "special order"? You may be able to find it, and get a pretty good discount as some of the heat from the IS's introduction has cooled. People are getting about $3k off the price, and it would be great to find your IS with a discount for your troubles.

Good luck in finding your car. I hope you find one (IS or not) that suits you real soon.

You can't just place an order and forget about it. You need to stay on top of these dealers. From my experience, dealers tend to "forget" things and you have to constantly be calling them and reminding them about what you need. Otherwise, they will forget about you.

Hate to hear about your order. We ordered the last week of OCT, 2005 and it didn't get here until two weeks ago, march 17. My dealer still couldn't find out any information on the order(car) even as late as February. We were so discouraged also, we almost bolted too, but there wasn't another car out there that appealed to us. Then March 1st, they called and said the car was due in port on the 11th.
Long story short, you didn't do anything wrong. Hell we checked in with our dealer in November, December, quiet in January. February came and we wanted a update and was not taking no for a answer . It was the worst month called, and they couldn't find anything out they gave us so many excuses and didn't return calls. Checking in with them did nothing to expedite the car until it made it to port.
Its a great car, go to another dealer.

Your post sounds much different than the OP. Much different. Sounds like you actually wanted the car.
