From IS300 to IS250
Am very curious if anyone here has moved from an IS300 (1st generation) to IS250, and what their thoughts are on the differences are in terms of performance and handling?

I had an 02 Is....manual shift. I LOVE my is25 auto 0 in many ways more, I will elaborate. Most of these reasons are personal. 1st, I was SICK of stick in Los Angeles. 2.) The car got 15-17mpg, new one gets 30. Although I have not timed either car "officially" the seat of the pants experience is very different. The 300 was very torquie, but all together my 250 is a faster sprintier car. As far as handling....I put H&R springs in the car within 24hrs of owning it....so I never really experienced the stock feel, I regret that change immensely....the car rode like cr@p. The 250 is quieter, smoother, more comfortable, the electronics are FAR superior.
But to answer the question...for ME the 250 is AS fast maybe faster the the 300, and to be honest I have not taken the 250 into a turning extravaganza....I want to preserve the $1000 tires as long as possible....but Ithe way I drive it handles as well as the 300....hope this helps

City and stop-and-go really kills the MPG.

I went from an 03 IS300 to an IS250 AWD.
1) Feel the performance in the car is more aggressive.
2) Love all the toys
3) Love the AWD in the Midwest.
4) Love the lines of the car
5) Gas mileage is great, averaging about 370 miles per fill-up.
6) Feel safer in the car as it feels more sturdy to me.
Overall I am very happy with the IS250 AWD. I would have loved the 350 in AWD but i don't feel the 250 is a slow car. Very happy with my decision to go from a 300 to a 250. When i had my old 300 next to my new 250 it was like night and day.

Typically I drive the freeways of LA during non-rushour traffic. Im self emplyed so i make my own Sched. Id say 80% freeway 20% streets. I exaggerated....its 28-29....usually but Ive seen it as high as 31 on long trips....I cruise about 75mph, and when im on the streets I imagine an egg between my foot and the pedal....(I used to have an insight, and that car's onboard computer really taught me how to save gas)

We went from a IS300 to an 2006 IS350. Our commute to work is about 1 mile. City driving at 1 mile is nothing compared to going on the highway.
The seats sure do get a lot warmer in the mornings though :P

Thanks for the comments and feedback... even if i wasn't expecting much on the fuel consumption (having said that I live about a mile from my office too).. Well, aside for commuting (if u could call it that) the car's need for other trips during the office hours...
Am considering quite a range of cars, including the 325, Golf, Legacy GT (i know it's a wide range, but i've always been very indecisive)... However, I have always had a soft spot for the old IS (never owned one), and was wondering, for those who moved from is300 to is250, how they feel about the move... any regrets, downsides...
