Default BMW 3-series a chick car?

Lexus picked up no awards, but here is MotorWeek's list of 2006 awardees:

Their car of the year is the Civic. Dubious is the 3-series as Best Jane Car.

MotorWeek's Drivers' Choice Awards also cite winners in each of 13 categories:

* Best Small Car: Honda Civic
* Best Family Sedan: Hyundai Sonata
* Best Minivan: Honda Odyssey*
* Best Convertible: Pontiac Solstice
* Best Luxury Sedan: Infiniti M
* Best Sport Sedan: BMW 3-Series
* Best Performance Car: Ford Mustang*
* Best Small Sport Utility Vehicle: Toyota RAV4
* Best Family Sport Utility Vehicle: Ford Explorer/Mercury Mountaineer
* Best Pickup Truck: Ford F-150*
* Best Eco-Friendly: Toyota Highlander Hybrid
* Best Dream Machines: Chevrolet Corvette Z06/Dodge Viper SRT10 Coupe/Ferrari F430
* Most Jane Car: BMW 3-Series (special category)

*Denotes repeat winner from 2005.

New this year, the Most Jane Car award — named for Jane magazine — singles out the model that most appeals to women in their 20s.

With the 325i and 330i, perhaps -- but the vast majority of M3 owners I see are male.

Almost every automaker ends up with a "chick" car. The RX, for example, is Lexus' Jane Car...

* Best Convertible: Pontiac Solstice

Yeah... right up until you actually get near one and realize the panel gaps are wide enough to swallow a Miata.

True, but I see more women in the RX than the SC.

The Toyota Solara (a baby SC by design): that's a chick car...

Is price an issue when rating these cars, come on now..
I do not know what they used to rate these but some of the cars are like 50k and some are 15k..

* Best Small Car: Honda Civic ~ this is like 15k car
* Best Family Sedan: Hyundai Sonata
* Best Minivan: Honda Odyssey*
* Best Convertible: Pontiac Solstice
* Best Luxury Sedan: Infiniti M
* Best Sport Sedan: BMW 3-Series - why not the BMW M5 or Benz E55 AMG
* Best Performance Car: Ford Mustang* -- FOR WHAT PRICE range....????
* Best Small Sport Utility Vehicle: Toyota RAV4
* Best Family Sport Utility Vehicle: Ford Explorer/Mercury Mountaineer - Why is it better than Escalade?
* Best Pickup Truck: Ford F-150* - Is it really better than Nissan Titan?
* Best Eco-Friendly: Toyota Highlander Hybrid
* Best Dream Machines: Chevrolet Corvette Z06/Dodge Viper SRT10 Coupe/Ferrari F430
* Most Jane Car: BMW 3-Series (special category) - I would say VW BUG...
