No real reason that I can think of except maybe if you routinely give someone else (in the family) your second remote, just leave it in the car and hand it out whenever. Maybe you want to give the valet the remote without key while you keep a remote with key. Probably easier than leaving the second remote on the kitchen table where it might be left behind.
