Yeah that's pretty much what I've been doing. Other than that it has been great. You guys all did a real good job with the DIY instructions. Thanks again

I just used a generic Radio Shack switch. I'll have to take pics tomorrow, I wanted to make sure I had a non-permanent approach so I had to get creative. I'll post pics tomorrow. Have you done the Rear Camera thing?

No rear camera here... I was going to do it but didn't want to mess with a second switch, and I felt the novelty would wear off quickly

I agree the thrill wears off fast! The only value I had with it, was while teaching my kid to drive... I was able to see the cars behind us and grab the wheel before my kid hit em
The original intent was to check out girls in the car behind... might work if you switch to a pan & zoom camera

That's what I would like it for; blind spot elimination.

I just got an IS 2007 with nav. I performed the famous white/pink mod and it was all good. Easy to do and the tip about using padded pliers...good stuff. The wires are all the same and the pictures really helped. The only thing that didn't work was the software hack to use destination whilst moving. Does anyone know anything about this?

Presently there is no solution for the 2007 year model for a software hack to use destination whilst moving.

Installed the VAIS SLI in Dec and while pleased with the integration (head unit and steering controls, power source, etc), did not like the Lexus safety feature limiting access to folder lists.

Just did the MP3/Phonebook hack and installed a bypass switch for in-motion destination access. Removed the cigarette lighter and mounted a 1" round rocker switch in its place.

Everything working as described...

Just hacked mine today. Picked it up last weekend, 2006 Certified with 10k miles, IS350 Sil/Blk Lux/Nav+ML. Everything went smoothly thanks to the all the info here - many thanks!!

Tips:
1) Go to Home Depot and look for a tool with a 90 degree bend to pull the vent out, I picked up something called a cotter pin extractor, worked great.

2) When I was working on the nav unit, I covered the console area and most of the dash with some old towels to make sure nothing got scratched.

My coworkers will enjoy watching pr0n on the way to lunch tomorrow

Question Wiring harness extension piece...

Okay guys, I have relooked through this entire thread yesterday and today and cant seem to find what I was looking for, so Im thinking maybe it was in another thread. Can someone help me find it?

I could have sworn someone posted a picture of what looked to be to be simply a wiring harness extension for harness that all three of the nav hack required wires are in. What Im thinking is if that really was an extension I could but that in place, hack, splice and tap all the wires I want and if in the end It doesnt work or I dont like it all I have to do is remove that extension section and Im back to stock.

Anyone know what Im talking about or am I just making stuff up and wishful thinking? Or if such a device has not been talked about, does anyone know where I could get that extension for the wiring harness?
