Default Decisions decisions....

Well, my local lexus dealer called me. He told me he is willing to sell me the RX330 at 40,516 (his invoice for that car... I havn't verified this). With the same deal, the IS350 - he can't get the colors I want, granite mica, pearl, or blue onyx. I wanted the black interior. He can only get me the red with the gray interior. He is taking $1,000 off sticker. Do I take it or not?

edit: I should have worded it better. We are dumping our RX300 and getting the RX330 in addition to the IS350. So two cars at once

Somehow it seems to me that if you want an honest answer, the best place to ask it is not the IS forums. Those two vehicles are for completely different drivers, and you're less likely to find one type here than another. =)

I meant, we ARE getting the rx330. We are replacing our RX300 with that. But, I want to get the IS350 also. The question is, do I take it in a color which I didn't really care about to begin with?

Bad idea to get a color you don't care for, unless you are not a car guy and just want a set of wheels for transportation. You may save some money now, but you will soon tire of seeing the car and regret your choice, esp. since metador red is not a neutral color like black, white or silver.

Matador red is actually one of my favourite color for the IS350, looks very sharp.
But I agree if that's not what you really want, you may want to wait for the exact color combo you like.

I agree... get something you like. Although I must admit gold is my last color choice, but Its the color I ended up with and It totally grew on me.

Have you seen the Matador Red Mica in person? It is gorgeous, especially in the direct sunlight.

I was dead set on smoky granite mica or tungsten pearl, but my dealer couldn’t find me one with the options that I was looking for. The same situation happened to me – the dealer called me one day and said he got a Matador Red Mica car with black interior with the ML/Nav/Lux options I was looking for. At first I told him I didn’t want it because I have never liked red cars, but he told me to come in and take a look anyway. When I got there I fell in love with the color combo. I have had it for about a month and I have absolutely no regrets about not getting the color I initially wanted. Actually, I like the color more and more every day. Like most of the metallic colors, it takes on a different color in different surroundings or shades of light.

I am not saying run out and buy it right away, but if you haven’t seen it in person it is worth taking a look. You might just decide that it is your new favorite color like I did!

Good Luck!

Red and yellow cars tend to evoke strong emotional response at first sight; however, unless one set out to buy those colors, it can quickly wear off over time. I love seeing red or yellow Porshces and Corvettes, but I wouldn't want to be seen in one, for some odd reason. I'd rather stay below the radar.

I completely agree. Red looks nice on a showroom floor or in someone ELSE'S garage, but I'd never drive one. I just prefer not to stand out quite that much.

If you're spending that much money, might as well wait and get what you really want. Don't compromise the car of your choice just so you have only 2% off discount...

Get the colour you want, not the only one that is available.

Thanks guys. I will do as suggested and not get the red. I like the red, I saw it on the GS, but I don't want all that attention from it. I will wait until the prices come down a bit.

Matador Red with the sterling/grey interior is great looking!!! Very classy with the grey interior offsetting the red exterior. Your decision ultimately, my man, but the IS350 is ten times the driving experience and fun than an RX330.
