IS audio system overview
Chuck, I have two 10s I want to put in the trunk. It apears that the previous owner had it set up for additional speakers already cause wires etc are already in place. Where do you suggest finding a box. I need to still be able to fit the stroller
By my count the amp would have to have 10 channels output:
Front Mids/Highs Left
Front Mids/Highs Right
Front Woofer Left
Front Woofer Right
Back Mids/Highs Left
Back Mids/Highs Right
Back Woofer Left
Back Woofer Right
Sub1(VC1)
Sub2(VC2)
Can anybody confirm? The MS-8 only has 8 outputs. Looks like this would not be plug-n-play.
wow what an informative post! i have 2 ?s...first have u seen the jl audio c5-653 3way component speakers and what do u think of them...also would a sound processer make a noticeable difference?

Hi List,
First post and resurrecting this old thread. For Cmusic an others that have some serious sub wattage going to the trunk, how thick and what brand of sound deadening (Dynamat, Cascade, etc) is anyone using?? I'm about to install a JL 10w6v2 w/ 500.1 amp and wanted to see what others did to keep the bolts from loosening
Also, I'm thinking of going with either another 10w6v2 or even replace my 10w6v2 with a 10w7AE. So the deadening would need to be thick enough to handle a 10w7, which is a serious woofer!
TIA,
Max

I had this exact same set up before my new system. I didn't have any matting but what rattled the most were the plate frame and gas door. Bought the Stinger matting for the plate and used the extra for the gas door. This worked well. If you click on my link I posted right above your question it'll show I used Stinger Road Kill pro matting in my new sound system.
I read your thread and progress on your IS (*****in install BTW, looks very clean). I've used Dynamat and Cascade in the past. Dynamat was ok but a pain to install. Cascade was very easy to install, but quite expensive the last I looked. I'll look into the Stinger matting and see what the cost is on it. I'm about to start what you just finished
, and it's gonna be almost completely DIY. It'll probably sit in my shop for a few weeks while I have the inside ripped out so I can install the matting, wires, and fronts/rears.Think i'll start a new thread with my progress as I intend on doing some very interesting custom work inside my 2007 IS-350. Might be of some interest to others.
Thanks for the reply!
Hi guys, lots of great info, but some of it is very old...just looking for updates.
Looking to drop a Pioneer TS-SW841D in the stock sub location and drive it with a Rockford Fosgate Punch P300-1...
AS the little 8" can not really go below 30hz... which I think is the stock amp cutoff point anyway... could I just drive it straight (with a low level converter) from the factory amp sub outs?
Due to WAF (her car) daily driver status, can not use trunk mounted subs unless I get the very expensive custom corner mount enclosure...
Thoughts?

Ok, I guess no one has seccessfully replaced/upgraded the factory sub? Thats a shame, I really didn't want to give up the trunk space. I do have a NOS sealed 10" punch sub with an older 180 wrms amp I can try, but I hate losing the trunk space...
Great info on here! Thanks a lot! I too am wanting to either mount a sub in the stock location or just add one in the trunk. I just got the car so I haven't looked at it too much. Will be checking back again.
