Default DVD MP3 disc

Has anyone else tried to make a DVD MP3 disc? I used Nero and created a DVD MP3 disc but my ML system just thinks about the disc for a while and then decides that it is not worth using. It doesn't "reject" it but I can't play it. The system can read a CD MP3 disc fine but I can tell the difference (but my 4 year old can't). So now all the children's music is on one CD and I have 5 other ones to play with.

BTW I got a Police greatest hits DVD audio disc and it sounds pretty cool. I won't go and replace my entire collection of CD's but if you have a favorite album (that is available on DVD audio) you might want to try it out. 5.1 sound is pretty interesting.

did you use RW discs--may want to try different media brand/type to make sure it's not a compatibility issue (also burn at a lower speed--that increases compatibility). Did you compile the disc as MP3 disc or as a data disc (you have to do data disc if you mix mp3 with wma)? If you did it as data disc, make sure you don't have other file types such as jpg or txt on the disc. I will try DVD when my car arrives in 3 weeks.

Default Dvd Mp3

I guess I would like to know if anyone has had success with making a DVD MP3 disc.
I am thinking that the DVD feature does not support the MP3 disc format.
So if you have got it work, please respond with the software/settings that you used.

Thanks,

Bradman

I'm extremely curious on this topic as well, especially since my iPod is back in service for the 3rd time in 2 months

I am having the same experience as the OP. MP3 CDs work but MP3 DVDs do not.

I tried both burning as MP3 and as a data disc with strictly mp3s no other type files.

Parking brake or not seems to make no difference.

I will continue to try...with iTunes.

Thanks for the update. Let us know if you figure out anything... Maybe try downloading the Nero 7 Demo...

Ken, what kind and brand of blank dvd media did you use? If you used DVD+R or RW, did you change the book type to DVD-ROM? Since I don't yet have my car, I can't verify this; but I think it's a compatibility issue with the media. Either use a name-brand, quality media, or set the book type to DVD-ROM (which all movie DVD's are). Also try burning at a slow speed. Obviously the head unit did not have problem decoding mp3's.
