the other two dealers have free loaners but when you sign the form it says you should refill it, otherwise they'll charge you $5/gal. even though they say it, i never do it, and they never charge me for it. so don't worry if they say it or make you sign the paper. one time my sister brought back a loaner for me and picked up my car when i had to go out of town. not knowing, she filled up the loaner and when she got there she asked the guy if she could have left it empty, and they said yeah, you didn't have to fill it up.

Same here, Sewell Lexus of Dallas does not mention gas levels. They are really easy going and completely dedicated to providing the very best hassle free service.

The one here in Thousand Oaks rattled off a long list of things when I inquired about it over the phone while asking about getting the 90k service done on my IS. One of them was "Loaner car must return with the same amount of fuel as it left with". Seems fair to me, as you're the one using the fuel.

A lot of that came about when fuel prices got so crazy. My dealer never cared until like 2007-2008 when prices got over $4 a gallon, then they started marking the fuel level and asking that it be returned filled up. I dont have an issue with that, its a huge expense.
Now I've noticed my guy just marks it as 1/8th full regardless of how full it is and just tells me to make sure it has at least 1/8th tank when I bring it back.

Just got a loaded '15 RX loaner on Friday for a few hours, they gave me a little more then a quarter of a tank with ~70 miles of range. I gave it loaner back with < 50 miles of range to go. They would of let me keep it for the weekend if they didn't finish the work on my IS.
