Default New To IS250

I've studied this car thoroughly, and still have some few questions. I haven't purchased this vehicle yet, cause I'm still waiting for my insurance to give me the go ahead since I totalled my last vehicle (2003 Toyota Celica GT, not my fault btw). Wondering if some of you may answer some of these questions for me. I've searched the forum, but doesn't seem like any of my questions have been answered. Anyhow, here it goes.

1) VDIM (I'm aware this is only available for the IS350, what is that? I'm not 100% sure what this is.
2) New car, has anyone heard of any rumours of what aftermarket modifications are going to become available to the new IS250?
3) VSC, can that be turned off? I know in European cars (more known as ESP), such as the A4 and therefore, it can be switched off or on.

I think that's all the questions I have, for now. Just such a new car to me, never purchased such a new car before. Usually do some research before I buy the vehicle but there isn't much information for this car I find, yet at least.

Thanks for all your feedbacks, much appreciated!

VDIM is a stability control system that can anticipate a skid before it occurs, thanks to a sophisticated network of sensors. It then seamlessly integrates steering, braking, vehicle stability and traction controls to help maintain control.

I am still trying to find out what aftermarket parts for this car

I have the 350 and there is a button next to the steering wheel that can turn off the traction control, thinking of drifting in this car?

Haha, maybe you never know right. Well not only that, I am looking towards Auto-X in this vehicle and see how it does. But I know with VSC turned on, I might be limited when turns occur.

I think not having VDIM for the IS250 is a good thing.

More electronic gadgets = more problems later on. And this reduces reliablity tremedously. I wonder if the IS250/350 will be problem free like the IS300.

I rather have no type of stability control system at all. Since California has near perfect weather I dont need it.

"More electronic gadgets = more problems later on" .... I was thinking about that too.. especially when I saw the retract/unretract feature of the steering wheel when turning the engine on/off. Is there a way to turn that feature off? I don't need it since I have no trouble getting in and out of our RSX (without that feature).

Well I get snow up here...in fact, already had a snow fall 2 weeks ago but it already melted. The stability control's good for me, for the most part. And if it has a toggle, that would be even better.

Default VSC and VDIM very reliable...

so no worries there mate.... Traction Control has an off switch in case you are embedded in snow you will need the spin the wheels temporarily to get out. I have driven the VSC and the VDIM in the snow and the VDIM is a big jump in technology. The new IS350 has the latest software which will allow spirited driving without intrusion. VDIM is only offerred on three models at this time. IS350, GS430 and the RX400h hybrid. It requires that the car have Electric Power Steering. (EPS) The 1st Gen. IS300 was available with VSC but hard to find except in the Central region. BTW, I turned off the Traction Control switch on an IS300 as an experiment in the rain and I sacrificed a perfectly good IS300 after spinning the car out. MY BAD......

The old IS300 didn't have Traction Control did it? I heard that the RWD IS250 doesn't come equiped with Traction Control but have VSC. Will VSC help in the rain or snow?

you really didnt do much research, did you? VSC and TRC come standard in IS250. TRC can be turned off but after certain speed, it re-activates itself.

As to the other features, it's lexus. It is supposed to have thousand goodies. And unlike its german competition, it should be trouble free...
