Default Percieved "Value": good or bad?

Now that prices have been released, what do you think the value of the car is?

Here are the MSRP and Invoice Prices:

IS250 Manual
MSRP: $29,990
Invoice: $26,389

IS250 Automatic RWD
MSRP: $31,160
Invoice: $27,419

IS250 Automatic AWD
MSRP: $34,285
Invoice: $30,168

IS350
MSRP: $35,440
Invoice: $31,186

To justify your decision, how about friendly comparisons between the IS250/350 and comparable competitors? Please, do not argue with other people -- post a simple rebuttal or send a personal message. Thanks.

My 2 cents:

The IS350 is fairly priced, not good, not bad.

The IS250 is slightly overpriced.

The thing is, there is such a HUGE power gap between the 250 and the 350 (we're talking +2.5s 0-60), so while the 350 is the fastest in its class, the 250 is among the slowest.

Main gripe: HID should have been standard (it is standard on the 330i, G35 and TL), or at least part of a cheaper package. As it stands now, you have to get a $3500 package to get HID.

to me the is350 is priced a bit higher than what i would want it to be. but seems like that's what i see with the new gs430 as well. i am just afraid about the upcoming LS which i want to buy

for the is250, i think it's priced pretty ok. for a loaded on the price looks stepper though, but i think it's more coz' we are seeing is250 (where it used to be is300) so we think it must be "worse" but in reality i think the car is a lot better

Default 2005 RL or 2006 IS350 NAV + Performance Lux PKG

I am currently in a situation where I must choose between 2005 Acura RL or 2006 Lexus IS350 NAV + Performance Luxury Package. Cars Direct.COM is currently offering the RL for $41,200 which is a steal considering that MSRP is $49,100. I know the IS350 out handle and out perform the RL, but considering the technological advancement of the RL (NAV by Traffice / 500+ Voice commands etc.) I have to think twice about the IS350 considering I could get the RL for less. What do you guys think?

the $3500 price to get the luxury package for HIDs is pulling me away from getting a is250 rwd right now.

Several guys on another forum have reported getting the RL for as low as $39,900.

My local Acura dealer offered me the RL for 39,950. I think the price of the IS is fair. Not too high , but not cheap either. I do agree the HID should have been standard on all models, i mean c'mon its a Lexus! Anyhoo, i'll have to make final judgement once i get to drive the thing!

I wonder how acurate that is since the invoice price on the RL is $43K. I can see it going for near invoice, but that much lower than invoice? How is Honda or any dealership making any money at all if that is the case? Just wondering.

For me, the IS350 on average is prices okay. With certain option packages though too me it gets a little high. Reason being is because many of the things I want is bundled with things I don't want but have no choice but to but it.

IS250 is too high.

We are in the same boat now with this discussion. People here complained about the RL being too expensive even with all the standard options. Others said it was just fine because of those standard options. Now its the same discussion with the IS

I think go for the RL for more room! If you want a Lexus, go for the IS. The RL, if you need NavTraffic (and if it works/covered in your area)...also XM, assuming you can pay the subscription fee. As for more voice commands, well if you need them. But reliability of voice commands on any car so far is still iffy. Although you can choose the voice of the speaker on Acura systems, it doesn't always sound as natural as on the Lexus. But it's up to you--I think the IS screen looks much better...but the RL has restaurant reviews.

There is a $2500 manuf. to dealer rebate right now on the 2005's. Not sure what'll happen when the 06's come out.

Acura overestimated demand for the RL (20,000 estimated) and there is an oversupply. That's why there are these mega discounts.

Word is, though, that they are cutting back production to 15,000 for the coming year.

What’s bugging me is that I know even at Invoice, the dealership is still making money because of dealer’s holdback. So considering if we were to pay MSRP, how much money are they pocketing? But I guess that is what separates the ballers from wanna be. .

I was quoted $40,200 for an RL yesterday. I am still in the midst of making a decision. I will test drive the RL today!

This is almost exactly how I feel, so I will just quote it and add a couple things. I think the IS250 is more than slightly overpriced. I think it would be a fair value if they reduced the msrp by 3k, AND made the options packages cost uniformly 15% less. I think the IS350 is fairly priced because even though it is an expensive car, you get the best power in the class with your money. Heck, you get the best power in a lot of classes.

RE: the IS250, I've said this before, but the fact that you can get a G35/TL/Audi 2.0 for similar cost, less in some options configs, more in others, but all give or take ~$1,500, I do not think the IS250 is a good value at all.

Cheers.

Wow...I'm not a huge fan of the RL, but that's a really, really good deal. I am sure you know that, though.
