And for all you newbs, here is the original IS article. Automobile has always LOVED the IS, from its reviews to its 4-seasons test where they raved about it. Amazing, June 2000, 5 years ago
I won't scan all the old articles but you can be assured when I post, its based on tons of data

This article does a good job of describing the IS. They estimate the base IS350 to be $36,500 and $42,500 for the (hopefully fully loaded) one they tested.

Thanks for the scan, I plan to go out tomorrow & buy this, I wonder if this mag is out at Barnes & Noble.

$42M that's about what I thought a fully loaded IS350 would be, someone here said it would be $46M that was way off base for this car.

0-60 tested 5.6. Now that is what I'm talkin about!!!

Combined Mileage 24, that is pretty good for over 300 hp.

Yes its at B &N

They think mid 5s are possible. I love they fact they really get into the WHOLE car, saying, hey, it might not unearth BMW or the G35 as the sportiest but with Lexus quality, comfort and a class leading interior, well, "There is more to like than fun and frolic" (they're last sentence)

What is FUNNY, is Car and Driver has described the IS with the same odd word, "Frolic".

thanks a lot...all the magazines seem to love it, but not as much as BMW or Infiniti

i wish it would beat them...

i'm tired of all the magazines giving praise to the 3...i'm sure it's good, but it's like the 3 is their God

I think this is a VERY positive article, excellent buzz for the new IS!!! If Lexus were in the 'quote-grabbing' mood, I think they'd find quite a few excellent things from this article:

"the new IS is more powerful, more refined, more cleverly packaged"

"Then again, with 277-lb-ft-of-torque available at 4800 rpm, who cares?"

"the big V6 generates numbers that not only humble the BMW but also the Infiniti G35"

Excellent!!!

i think the IS suffers from the same syndrome the GS did: a little less excitement than the infiniti and the BMW, but to a lesser extent. i think price will really drive this car to first, but otherwise the sports-performance oriented mags will never rate this one first.

i'd still hit it

there is nothing wrong with praising 3 series for good reason, but i am not sure if that good reason exists anymore. 330i is not king of the track anymore, all German magazines called it slow and dissapointing when compared to the rivals.

So 330i is not the fastest car on the track amongst entry luxury car, I guess we could call it "fastest feeling" car :-).

The fact that IS350 is considerably faster, more luxurious and (personally) much better looking is obvious to me. I would think that I would also "feel" fastest when I would circle around 330i, but question is if the driver of 330i would feel the same? I guess they will have to carry around magazine articles that they can glance at everytime someone passes them :-).

Default Rear seats and trunk

Thanks for the article. I agree, very positive but as said Automobile magazine has always had a good heart for Lexus. Not ever owning an IS can someone tell me what the chances are for 60/40 rear seats. Hopefully the rear seats drop for additional storage.

Thanks.

Their $42,500 estimate for the tested car did not include PCS. Adding PCS to make it truly "fully loaded" would make the car close to $46k.

The 5.6s 0-60 was the manufacturer's estimate that we've known about for a while. I'm sure that C&D would replicated it though.

The combined mileage of 24 is definitely .

I'm sure that PCS would be a great option to have but that just brings the $$ too high.

I found the Automobile Magazine today at Barnes & Noble at first I thought they didn't carry it as it was not with all the other car mags, it was in a separate area on an end isle with other mags.

Look what I found at their website: COOL WALLPAPER!! Check out this resolution, WOW.
