On the Lexus web site, it says that it is capable of playing Dolby 5.1 sound, does this mean that it can play DVD audio media?
Also, has anybody evey tried connecting an iPod to a high quality car stereo i.e. BMW? How is the sound quality? I've plugged mine into my home theater system and it didn't sound that great.
that I'm not sure about. I would think that it doesn;t because the cable input jack seems to be just audio with no interphase cable, so I'm guessing that you would have to control it yourself, except for the volume of course.
I don't think so because it is says it can be connected to any MP3/WMA device and they can't all have the same control interface.
It's going to be connected through a stereo minijack, the same thing that headphones are connected with. More than likely you'll have to control it yourself since there is such a huge difference between the different media players. Not to mention anyone that wants to use their cell phone as an mp3 player through the vehicle as well.
yeah, more than likely you will control the ipod yoursef, not through the screen
but yes on the dvd changer. the new gs already has a 6 dvd changer and it plays movies, so i think it only makes sense if the same thing goes into the new is
I've heard about some generic 'controllers', where you can scroll through an MP3 player's playlists via the CD changer controls, such as 'CD1" would be playlist 1 etc...

That would be cool, but it would be interesting since i have 19 playlists on my iPod

I know on BMWs, you make 6 playlists and name them "BMW1" - "BMW6", it acts as a 6 disk CD changer I guess. But to install it is a rip off, it is like $300, more than the iPod itself.
