I suppose that I need to see a new is in person but from all the pics I have seen it DOES look like a mazda3 outside. the interior is very nice however. I REALLY hope that this styling does not carry over to the next gen ls. god what a mistake that would be.
I´ll stay with my opinion and still say that Acuras look like oversized Hondas, and like i´ve stated b4 the TL looks like it was made by machine rather than human. If u think that the new IS doesn´t look better all-around then i´m sorry, but you smoking some good ish! I bet you I can ask anyone w. the new TL if their car looks better than the new IS and they´ll say no, cuz they know it´s true, if they do say it looks better then they´re hating just like you. Now, saying it looks like a Mazda 3, you´re crazy. People used to say that because of the supposedly concept IS250/350 not anymore. If it did look as good as the new IS I would´ve been in the Mazda 3 a long time ago. I have a G35c so don´t think i´m defending lexus just cuz you probably think I have one. 1

The car itself won't need much of stopping power like 3 liter V6. If that diesel runs to 60 in less than 10seconds that should be counted as success.
Why would it matter if it's a diesel? I doubt that Lexus would be that cheap that they would put smaller breaks on the diesel. Heck it would more expensive to put on different ones - unless they steal it straight off some Corola.
As long as they keep the weight down 10 s 0-60 on that car should be doable. The diesel will probably beat the 250 in passing tho.

Default More hp?

I think this is a beautiful car....much, much better than the current generation! I see people talking about a higher hp version, but all I see is the 204 hp number on the IS250. Is there going to be a higher hp version? I currently have an Audi A6 2.7T....with 260 hp and two turbos, I am having a hard time considering my next car unless it has some kick. I like the new Infiniti M, but really don't want to spend $45-50k again. Anybody know about an IS coming with more hp? What is this about an IS350? Thanks.

The IS will come in two versions for the US. The IS250 and IS350. The IS350 will be the 300+ hp power house. There are alot of rumors on internet sources giving out hp estimates. The numbers that were given to ClubLexus were from Lexus Marketing HQ reps and Team Lexus officials back in October 2004. No final numbers have been released for either IS250 or 350 but they will definitely be no slouch.

Here's an article I posted in December 04:

Default 2006 IS US Debut

I am now considering going to the New York Auto Show to see this car. Has there been a press release from Lexus stating that the new IS will be there?

Also, on the feature note, does it has auto dimming mirrors?

It has to. My '01 didn't have it, but I believe from '02 on it did. And it has to continue, especially if they're loading this bad boy up w/ Smart Access, power tilt/telescoping, push start/stop, etc.
