So i had this idea in my head for couple of years now to add few switchback bulbs in the stock headlight, and now when i broke my hand i have some more time to prepare for the realisation. So i'm going to replace lenses to my stock headlights in a few months, but i thought that i could also do some modifications in the same process. So at least in the europe, we don't have light bulbs in those small triangles, but i saw in the back of the headlight that there could be a dummy place prepared for that. Is there a reservation for USA/Japan models for the light bulb? And if yes, what could be the dimensions/light bulb size? Atleast i was able to find some photos, that someone has those spots lightened, is that something people do afterwards, or stock in some countries?
So is there just some cap that could be plugged off and i could just insert a lightbulb? (This picture is from google, so i can not currently try one handed to do that 😁
i'm thinking of adding two switchback lightbulbs on the both sides, currently i have only one where the blinker is and nothing in that small triangle. So the stock blinker in the middle is kinda clear, it is 7440A light bulb. But what would fit in the corner triangle? Would these be ok?
I was kinda surprised that i was not able to find any info regarding this, or maybe just a search engine skill issue 🤷♂️
You probably don't find much info on it because it's standard on US models. I had taken it apart when I swapped my headlights. I don't remember the details, but I think the bulb is the same as the middle one -- with wiring inside the housing, but the bulb can be changed from the outside. I think there is a small triangular shaped reflector inside -- make sure you have that already inside as well.
I was looking at the second hand parts that are selling online, and i think i found the spot for the inner bulbs. US Spec headlights has the wiring ready for the second blinker, EU spec does not. But in that case this is not the problem, i’ll just do my own wiring harness ”extender”, that would be plug and play set in the original blinker + parking light socket. So no cutting for the original wiring would be needed, and it would be easy to put all back to stock. Hopefully in EU spec cars this is just a plug covering the inner blinker hole

good point, hopefully the headlight is exactly the same around the world, just unused bulbs are not attached and a bit different harnesses used. But i believe that this is the case as car manufacturers usually just do the same parts and just dont use what is not needed. At least it looks from outside that it could be the same.
