Hi guys, whenever i start the car and listen to music it eventually completely cuts out after about 5 minutes. A simple restart of the car temporarely fixes the issue but it will cut out again. Are there any tests i can do to confirm its the amp going wrong? I get no relevant fault codes. Thx in advance
Ageing electronics and heat don't work together. My car does it sporadically, more often during summer months. I still have to figure out whether it's an amp or the radio that's cutting out.
See if the same thing happen on a colder day or when you park the car in a garage.
Hi, thank you very much for the reply.
My car is parked in my garage and the issue is sporadic like you say yourself. Once every blue moon the audio will work with no problems, until the next time i start the car, i see no correlation to temperature. i think i will order an used amp as i found one for quite "cheap". its not really cheap but compared to what i have seen online its pretty cheap. i have an aftermarket apple carplay radio so i doubt thats the issue, altough there is a bad connection in one of the wire "groups" which i will try to fix this week and see if the issue is resolved somehow but im most likely ordering a new amp.
Also i have read on other forums on way different lexuses that they dont respond well with aftermarket dab radios, which someone has installed on my car so i will also try to remove that and restore the wires like they were originally, as they have used "power thieves" and such to install the dab reciever. I will post with an update later this week if anyone should ever be so unlucky to later have the same issues as me as it has been a real pain in the backside to resolve.
If u have access to a dmm, meter your speaker impedence coming from the amp and see if any of tjem or shorting out, if you have shorted speaker thos wohld throw the amp into protection mode. Yoi are looking for the white plug 14 pin on the amp

thanks for the reply, are you saying i shouls ohm the circuit or just read the volts? Does the white plug go to the speakers? I dont think i understood you fully. I will see if i can find a wire diagram
While your in the location where the amp is installed (right rear trunk), check the condition of Part 62930-12161(trunk pressure vent). Confirm it hasn't become distorted / brittle, and perhaps allowing moisture in.

you want ohm the speakers to see if youn are getting 8 ohms or 4 ohms.. mark levinson speakers i am reading are supposed to be 8 ohms. If you are getting 0.2ohms or something like that then the voice coils are fried tossing the amp in protection
If helpful, located the Mark Levinson AMP (Part# 86280-0W360, 86280-0W490, 86280-0W550 -14 speaker) connector PIN out diagram here; ( I assume it's accurate);
