Default Check System TPMS helped need

My car hit me with the check system notification on the gauge cluster a few months ago, today I pulled out techstream and saw that one of the sensors wasn’t sending data, I’m assuming it’s dead but I don’t know for sure. Could anyone ELI5 the information techstream was displaying?

I believe the cryptic code 'Over' is telling you the battery life is over. Look at thiese, one from the 350 and one from the Tundra, the Tundra all of the cheap tire company sensors dropped off line over the course of a year. The 350 was reporting over on 12 year old sensors but still operating.

I bought all new Denso sensors for the 350 and programmed them while they laid in the front seat, then took the wheels to the tire shop for new skins.

Interesting it threw that code up there on yours...

So is my best bet is that the rest of the sensors are soon to die because they are reporting their battery life is “over”? Should I just go and replace all the sensors then?

That would be a wise choice! You can buy new Denso on eBay for under $100.
Next time you connect Techstream to the car, see if you can set the low pressure alert values per sensor. Mine are all whacky like yours.

Just ordered a sensor and Autel TPMS Unit to make the job easier on myself, this way I should be able to see the individual battery life on each sensor. I’ll also see about setting the low pressure values

My version Techstream is ancient, version 8.x, good to see version 12 didn't add something I was missing. What OS are you running that requires a Virtual Machine overlay? I'm running it Win10. Seems fine.

I'm running a pretty old version of Windows 10 on an ancient HP Pavilion dv6-3225dx using a Windows XP virtual machine.

techstream-tpms-question

^^ A thread of mine on this same topic. I didn't look at your location but if the temps dropped substantially, it's very likely it killed what battery life the sensor had.

I’ll take a look at the thread. It doesn’t get super cold where I’m at, but the coldest it’s been in a while was about 30 degrees. I’m going to keep looking to figure out what “Over” and “Less” mean on the batteries.

in the example above between the 350 and the tundra, interesting to see that there are no DTCs on the lexus (even though some sensors are "over") but 4 on the toyota.

from the OP's DTC, it is pretty obvious to me that sensor 3 is bad - and the rest are likely dying too so yes replacing all at once is a good idea.

btw, is ID5 the spare tire? i was not aware we had a sensor in the spare on the IS. perhaps it's just for cars that do (or we actually have a senor there too)!

Our cars do not have a sensor in the spare or come with one, but I think the TPMS ECU supports a spare sensor if you want to add it.
