Default Broken Cv Axle

I’ve been trying to fix my cv axle and i’m just curious. I just put my wheel back on and everything expect the cv axle. Could i technically drive my car a short distance lets say to a shop (abt 6 miles) and be fine?

No in fact putting weight on any wheel without the axle installed can destroy the bearing. Driving with no axle will destroy the bearing for sure.

A very good point! Even if that wasn't the case unless you have an LSD there is a decent chance you'll go nowhere when you hit the gas just like if you were stuck in the mud and the "active" tire was deep in the bog.

True but I'm wondering if the OP's car is AWD. Can't stress this enough don't put weight on a wheel bearing if there is no axle I learned the hard way. Pushed a car about 50 feet that was enough to ruin the bearing.

I told the guy in another thread, no don't but ya, no nut, no clamp force to hold the bearing/hub together. Should give the caliper a good work out if its tried!
