I got mine for $28,200. I really negotiated. It is a 2003 e-shift with the leather/escaine and they included a spoiler with it for free. I think you are getting a bad deal, you should try to go to another dealer if they won't give you the deal you want. That is what I did.
EDIT: Did I mention it was brand spanking new!

Some of you guys are forgetting that you bought your 03 during 2003. The 2004's that are out now are being sold in 2003...so obviously its early in the model sales year....and yes negotiated prices wont be as good as if you bought your model year car in that same year.
Adding my own lil bit, after a brief chat on the phone with my salesman, he already brought the car down from $34,100 or something around there to $31,000. This is on a 2004. So i am pretty sure that I can get it down from that once I go in and am fully ready to work out the deal.
Since a lot of you have questions on how to get the best IS300 prices, here are some tips:
1. Get the IS300 sedan rather than the Sportcross.....the SportCross tends to sell for markups, or at least without a discount.
2. Try to find a leftover 2003 on the lot that hasn't been sitting for too long....the date of manufacture will be on the driver's doorjamb. Cars that sit on the lot too long get flat-spot tires, dead batteries, contaminated oil, etc... You can get good deals on year-old never-sold models, but like I said, try to get a recently made one.
3. if possible, try to deal with a Lexus shop either right next to or very close to a BMW, Mercedes, Audi, or Infiniti shop. Competition to the IS300 from the BMW 3-series, Infiniti G35, Audi A4, and Mercedes C-class is fierce...especially the BMW 3-Series. A Lexus shop will let an IS300 go for less if there is serious competition right across the street.
4. Pick out an IS300 with no more than the equipment ant options you need.....or want. For instance, why splurge on the Sport package if you don't drive and corner really hard? And why splurge on the Nav system if you really don't need it or will rarely use it? Ditto for the sunroof...how much you actually need it and use it will depend, of course on the weather and climate where you live.
5. Sometimes you can get good deals as a repeat customer at a dealership.
6. If it is legal in your area, buy it across the border in a lower-tax state and drive it home and register it in your higher-tax state.
