Hello! Recently, 2 or 3 months ago bought a used IS200, 2000 model with 350 000+km. Been working just fine so far aside from a few things.
But recently i started hearing a ticking noise from the engine that scales with revs, im not sure where exactly its coming from but its more audible when inside the car. Shortly after this one of the ignition coils went out but i doubt these are correlated, just weird timing iguess.

Anyone have suggestions on what it may be?

So far the only thing that might explain it from what ive read is that since im using different oil than what the previous owner did, but i'd been driving for a few months after changing the oil.
or a tight belt, after changing some of the belts, but again i'd been driving a few months since that.

 

Use a mechanic's stethoscope to isolate the sound area down.

ok, so it sounds like its coming from the front somewhere, like a belt, tensioner or the first or second cylinder

was suggested that its something with the belts, either too tight or too loose
