Default Starter issue. Starter or circuit ?

A few years ago the 7.5 amp fuse blew for the starter, replaced it and miraculously it was fine for a few years until now. Now its blowing the fuse every time I crank, but it is cranking up . Because it is still managing to crank up and blow the fuse afterwards im wondering if its a short in the circuit as opposed to the starter itself. Considering how much of a job it is to pull It out , I am trying to go through every other option . Relay is clicking and seemingly working fine, but im wondering if I should at least try with a new relay and new fuse to make sure it isn't causing the fuse to blow. Its looking like a faulty starter to me but any input on something I could've overlooked would be awesome.

It would be a short.. The trick is finding it. Assuming you have not modified or added anything to that part of the harness. Check physically the wires. It could also be the ignition switch.

yeah I was thinking about gutting the wire loom today and looking for any issues, ive known it to not be uncommon for a starter to short in the windings and cause my issue. How could it be the ignition switch tho? don't see that blowing the fuse for the starter... im all ears.

The switch has several contact points that can arc when worn.

YOU WERE EXACTLY RIGHT. I wish I didnt pull my starter out first but atleast I learned how to do a really hard task, made it my ***** once I lowered the trans a little . I listened to you and took apart my column and found the switch at the back of the cylinder ready to fall apart , thankfully my buddy had a spare one ! Funny thing is i must've broken the plunger off the neutral switch too so once again it didnt start . I figured that out quickly tho. I found it funny you can just put your foot a little higher over the clutch and push the little pin in for the neutral switch . So basically . I put in alot of labor but didnt spend a dime , thank you for helping me !!
