2002 Lexus IS300 "Hesitated Start" Issue
Hello-
I've done some searching on CL as well as the internet and I'm pretty stumped as to what my issue could be. I would appreciate it if some of the CL gurus could help me out.
Vehicle: 2002 Lexus IS300 (5 speed manual)
Mileage: ~121,000 miles
Recent Maintenance: Spark plugs at 100,000 miles (factory recommended; gapped to proper specifications; coil pack boots looked new); MAF cleaned (no discernible change in performance); new battery (as of yesterday; car needed it as the old one was approaching end of life; no discernible change in performance)
Issue: When starting the car in the morning, the car hesitates to start. It feels like the engine is just on the cusp of catching. When the car is warmed up, starting is not an issue. To give you a sense of what I mean, this YouTube video is exactly what the car sounds like (not my car):
.
Now, I've DL'd the maintenance manuals for the IS300 and plan on running diagnostics this weekend starting with checking the resistances of the cords, wires, sensors, etc. for the electrical side of things and then moving on to fuel.
I wanted to know if anyone else has encountered this issue and what the solution ended up being to hopefully shortcut some of the leg work. If not, is there anywhere in the maintenance manuals that I should focus my attention?
Thank you!
