I've got a failed CD changer, contemplating an aftermarket unit or trying to find a replacement OEM unit and hoping that one won't fail too. Not looking forward to adapting the wiring harness for an aftermarket unit. But then realized that there are lots of other Toyota vehicles which have a double-DIN sized headunit - Camry, 4Runner, Highlander, etc. -- and that the aftermarket wiring harnesses that say they're compatible with IS300 seem to be compatible with a long list of other Toyota vehicles from the same time period.

Has anyone attempted putting a different OEM Toyota head unit into their IS300? Did the wiring connect with no modifications? How about mounting brackets?
