I am a complete n00b when it comes to Lexus.

Friend of mine is selling his automatic 2003 Lexus IS300, 260k miles on chassis, 150k on engine.

Ive driven the car myself and it is very nice. New fluids all around, ok tires, new brakes...

However the CEL is on.


I cant remember the code on top of my head, but it is for a faulty Transmission Fluid Temperature Sensor.

I work at firestone so i get a nice discount on parts and labour. According to our labour program "Mitchell" and "Identifix" it takes 2 hours to replace the ATF temp sensor. However, when i searched with our parts providers (Napa, Advance, Carquest, O'Reilly, and Vatozone) and they do not have a listing for it.

I then called Lexus of Naperville and asked them for thr part and the parts guy had no idea what i was talking about.

Is it part of another component? Has anyone have had that replaced before?

He wants 2500 for the car and I'm in need of a daily because my other daily is little by little becoming a dedicated track car. (Lol)

Did you ever figure out how to do it. I’m in need of doing it. it sounds like your close since you said naperville. how hates was it to do. and what did it take to do.
