Default coolant issue

hey guys. couple days ago my radiator cap failed and fell off while driving. didnt know untill i saw white smoke and smelled coolant thru the vents. temp gauge almost reached H but shut engine off and coasted to a stop. came back with a new cap and serviced radiator and expansion reservoir. started car and drove off. noticed my temp gauge wasnt reaching operating temperatures. kinda just stayed bewtween the 3rd and 4th tick on the gauge. later on that day it reached operating temp for a few minutes then the needle dropped closer to C. i realized i forgot to start the engine without the cap after servicing it so this morning i removed the cap and (coolant was still topped off in expansion tank and radiator) started the engine but the coolant only overflowed out of the filler neck. any ideas?

sounds like you got air in the cooling system, you have to burp it by squeezing the coolant hoses and running the car with the cap off.

You also have to jack up the front of the car until the tires are off the ground and bleed the coolant. JZ engines are notorious for trapping air unless they are bled this way

Simply undo the cap and let the car idle, let it get hot and it will start circulating the coolant and will rid of any air trapped in the system. If it's starts pouring out it's perfect tly fine just let it do its thing til it stops on it own. After 10mins of it running at temp with the cap off you can close it up and call it a day
