I'm starting a new job where I'll actually have to go to work every day (vs staying at home and screwing around every day which I do currently) and have been toying with they idea of getting a cheap DD to supplement the ISF.
I've wanted a manual IS300 for a while, which are I know tough to find, but have come across one locally. From the looks of the ad and my talks with the seller it is far from perfect, which may be ok depending on what issues it does have.
I don't think I'll see another manual IS300 before I end up picking up something else so I figured this is at least worth checking out. I'll take a look at it as soon as daylight permits (it gets dark around 4:30 here) but was curious what kind of specific issues I should look out for?
He already told me there is a CEL - running too rich.
I would take it to Autozone or where ever to see what the code it throw really is. Rebuilt title is a little shaky on my part to have it as a DD. You should get a full report for the car to see what kind of accident it was in. Then you can take it to a mechanic to check the area it was wrecked on to see if they fixed it right.
Yeah if I'm still interested after looking at it, I'll either do that or see if the local Toyota dealership will do an inspection. I'll bring my scanner to get the code when looking at it also.
It would be the to and from work car, which isn't much of a drive. I still have my other car and a truck so if it has some minor issues periodically it isn't a huge deal as long as my purchase price reflects that and it isn't some crazy $$$ to fix.
There just aren't many options for cheap, RWD, 4-door, manual cars which is why this peaked my interest aside from being an IS.
