Hey everyone, my name is Chris, im a brand new 2003 is300 owner. I dont have any major questions yet about the car but i always like to join forums to learn about the car more, and be able to pick the communities brain when the car does break or I want to improve something.
My car is a salvaged 2003 is300 automatic, im currently taking it on a roadtrip across the country and rebuilding it as i travel. I got it road worthy in the first 48 hours of owning it and i havent done much since, but im hitting the junk yard tomorrow to try and find some parts.
Ive been filming a bunch of my stuff, if anyone would like to check it out heres the playlist.

would love to hear feedback from anyone

Your next Challenge should be Quarter Mile Street Race (Note: producers, find a safe street lol). If you can't beat the Subaru then, get a different car. lol

Basically all the ECT button does is make the transmission shift at higher rpms. It will decrease your mpg noticeably. It's kind of like taking overdrive off making your normal first gear one gear down, and adding shifts at higher rpms. All it does is move the shift points to a higher range, but I'm not sure by how much.

Im so amazed by how well the engine and trans is performing on this car, id totally expect a trans with this many miles to be rough but this one is super smooth, and works well with the manual shifting and all the other stuff.

I couldn't agree more with these IS 300's having smooth transmissions and engines! I've always stayed away from using the manual shifting because I'm afraid it might mess up the transmission. I know this is a bad example but years ago when I worked at Enterprise we serviced a Mazda dealership and every person who used the manual shifting ended up destroying their transmissions! Lexus > Mazda but I still have that fear in the back of my mind every time I think about using it!
New episode is up, some 0-60-0 racing the lexus is300 vs the subaru impreza, and cooking dinner under the hoods!
