Hello.. i am new and not very car savvy at all. I have a 2007 is250 with 76,000 miles. Im having an issue when accelerating. When i hard accelerate from idle my rpms goes up to 6000 and then drops, my car downshifts as i continue to accelerate, it upshifts but the more i floor the gas rpm will drop again and downshift as rpm climbs it will upshift.
Checking my transmission fluid tank i see the pink fluid is towards bottom of the tank, indicating its low, could that be the issue?
I haven't heard good things about that 2.5 Lexus motor. I've heard some people claim it to be the worst motor Lexus/Toyota has ever built and put out. Don't know if there's any truth or merit to that, but those same people will swear by the 2jz motor which has the proven track record.
You don't see too many is250's with more than 100k miles, and if there are most seem to be trying to get rid of them. So you wonder what the average life span of the motor/tranny is before needing major work done or what that threshold is before things just start gradually breaking down mechanically.
And with that, if I ever got a 250 it would be the v8 f sport model lmao.
