Default Fuel efficiency

Guys

If I drive 50 miles once a week and get 25mpg over time, what sort of mileage should I expect if I drive 10 miles 5 times a week? All other conditions remain the same

I know this may sound like a stupid question to some but if you throw some rough estimates on this, I'll explain my reasoning behind it

Thanks

the more times you start the car and it has to warm up, the less fuel economy it will get... how much difference, can be a decent amount...

Agree! Especially if we are talking sub-0 winter warmups here.

to do this test algebraically, you first need to give me a 10x5 #, and then we can run a regression on it to see what we get over weeks/months.

I would agree with the others that factors such as startups, weather, wind, traffic which are out of your control would create an interesting model.

i found some posts and threads about using 87 octane gas, instead of the 91/93 octane for better mpg...
has anybody tried this?

Actually, our cars will get better fuel economy with the higher octane fuel, though not by much - when using lower quality fuels, the car will learn this and pull timing - pulling timing can cause a lack of fuel economy, though usually not much...
