Default Ocv

Daughters 2001 IS 300
Has 277,000 miles, shop diagnosed oil control replace as cure for catastrophic misfire thus putting the car into safe mode.
estimate was to replace timing belt, water pump, OCV $1200

Would replacing the OCV only correct the issue? and what is cost to replace OCV?

thanks

I cant tell exactly but at Toyota they are usually $150 range and could be installed yourself most of the time. The problem with an OCV failure with mileage that high is a good chance that there is engine sludge causing some VVT-I issues with oil flow. If it continually has issues related to VVT-I and it does exhibit engine sludge it would need a new engine more than likely.
