Question 02 Lexus IS300 stereo issue

Hi guys,
Does anyone know about "error 1" when trying to read any music CD ???

I got my IS300 a few months ago and I am trying to see how can I get the cd reader to work. I've tried both mp3 and original music cds and got the same "error 1" on the display, I also tried a 'cleaner lens cd' but no luck yet ...all other stereo functions work fine.

Please help!

I know what's wrong.. I had the same problem with mine.. It is the laser lens that has to be cleaned.. So you have to pull out the radio, screw off the top and now you can see everything inside.. Find the laser lens (it might be a good idea to have the power on so it can come out from its "hiding place") and wipe it off, if necessary with some glass cleaner

If it still won't work after cleaning, just search Grom Audio - they make an aux input that allows you to use line in or ipod type input...

I have a problem similar to this, but my disk changer doesn't let me insert a disk at all. Any ideas on what the problem is?

I'll try to clean the laser lens myself then, I've youtubed how to remove the dash and it does not seem complicated at all.

thanks TheDane!!

if no luck I'll consider mitsuguy sugestion

my cd changer still works, at least last time I tried it, it does... I prefer aux input though - sounds better and much more convenient than antiquated audio cd's...

I think it is the "elevator" for the CD's that may be stuck or a CD that is misplaced (this can actually happen ). Try do the same job, but in stead of cleaning the laser lens, move the "elevator" a little without breaking it maybe that will work, and off course if it's the CD, pull this out.. I have had the same issue as well
