Does anyone know if Corp. TOYOTA has approved this project?

Default Where do I sign?

All the IS300 was ever missing was the Supra's twin turbos, and accompanying power. Think about it - the thrust of a previous generation supercar in our beloved sport compact sedan.

That is the TTE IS430 test mule. They have had a lot of trouble getting it to run.
Looks like they finally got it all together.
I'll ask around to see if it's for real.

I just got some info from my friend that is close to TTE.
As of now, TTE still has no plans to take it into production, however, there is someone from TMC comming over to TTE to check some stuff out.

This is the info from TTE, I don't know what is going on Stateside.

Over 300hp v8 on the is300 is good news to everyone. But the 0-60 time of 5.9 (probably estimated) is only as fast as the GS430. Why can't it go faster because this car should be lighter than the GS. The new Volvo S60R coming out gets 5.6 with around 300hp.... hope everything will change if the v8 IS goes into production.

Taking the weight difference(V8 vs. I6) between the GS430 and the GS300(69 lbs) and applying that difference to the IS300(3270 lbs curb) gives the IS430 a power to weight ratio of 11.13 lbs/ hp(new curb of 3339 lbs). Given that I estimate(which is also backed up by a QM calc.) a stock 1320ft. time of 13.7-13.9.

I will be waiting if it going to come out or not....I personally think that it could do 0-60 faster than 5.9 sec. The car is quite light!

it will be faster than that but dont forget HP isn't everything the torque is required to get the car moving in the 0-60, if the IS430 can have 325HP and 350ft/lbs of torque it will be lightning fast.

Exclamation

I just read some specs in a Belgium magazine on the IS430 TTE (non supercharged) car.
The 0-100 km/h(62 mph) in 5.6 sec.
Top speed is 280 km/h (170ish mph).
The 430 engine ways 15 kg more that the IS200 engine and the total car is only 50 kg heavier.

NOTE!!!
This is the info from the TTE car for which they do not have concrete plans for production.

5.6 0-62 would put the car at 5.3-5.4 0-60 which would match pretty well with my QM time

I'm looking at the picture and one thing really puzzles me. If they're trying to gear this car more toward performance, why are they using an automatic transmission?? Wouldn't it make more sense to use a manual?? The car looks great but the fact that it's an auto would prevent me from getting one. Dont get me wrong, I'm a big fan of the IS but what i'm trying to say i guess is that if ur trying to make the car a sporty performer then wouldn't u rather a stick?
