Here's a 245/35/18 on a 18x9 +38 with about -1.3° camber.

If you need the traction, go for the 255's. If not, I think the 245's do just fine on an NA setup. Either way, I don't think it will make a huge difference. You'll need to roll your fenders pretty flat, remold the rear plastic liners, and probably trim the area where the rear bumper bolts to the quarter panel.

What is the wheel's offset? I've got a 225/40 on my 18x7.5 +43, and I have zero problems. Here's a pic of the sidewall.

Thanks for all the info I decided with the 255 since Iam boosted and need traction also I went a higher offset so the wider tire should be ok.. Btw the TRD lip question i asked u I'm haveing the lip done custom I hope it comes out well I will put up pics when I get my wheels next week and bumper and lip!!!

No problem. Here's a link to my fender mod thread: http://my.is/forums/f221/cant-figure...31/index2.html

I don't think I've seen anyone cut off the center mounting flap and reshape the VIS version. I'd be interested in seeing how it comes out. How are you going to support it with the flap gone? In the pics I sent you, my jdmEyes lip has mounting tabs spread across the length of the lip, but the VIS doesn't. Definitely post some pics of the finished lip before it's mounted. This may be an option for people who can't get their hands on an authentic or jdmEyes lip.
