Hello CL I need some help with some routine work on my 02 Is300. I need to do the spark plugs on it and its not like Hondas lol. So if someone could give me a hand i would appreciate it so much. My is300 has roughly over 100k. Let me know Thanks
its not as hard as it seems. after lexus told me they wanted $300 for labor only, i said the hell with it. it mainly takes patience and removing a lot of stuff. i did mine at 150k
Easy way to make any job a little bit less stressful,1. get a manual for your car 2. Be gentle and methodical( unless the situation requires brute force, you dont need to apply it.)
On the 2J spark plugs are a cake walk, pull the intake and TB as one, disconnect wires, unplug coils( only three of them cuz of the wasted spark system) and change the plugs.
One thing that might help in the future is to change the clamps on the coolant lines that go to the TB to the screw type, it ensures that the hose is clamped, and makes for easier manipulation of the lines to reinstall them.
